From the info we're getting back from customers, it appears that some people are running with hardware acceleration for sound turned off.  Turning this on may help with these issues.  To do so, open Control Panel and double click "Sound and Audio Devices"

Once you are here, under the volume tab, under the speaker settings grouping, click the "Advanced..." button

Once there, click the performance tab and make sure the slider for Hardware Acceleration is set to "Full"

Once you do this, click "Apply" and then "OK" and try launching Demigod again, and see if the performance increases.

For some reason, this makes me laugh.

That would probably be because there are some games that don't like hardware sound acceleration with on-board sound cards, and thus it gets turned off for compatibility reasons. I've had to do it myself a couple of times, but since I'm using the Windows 7 beta almost exclusively lately, this isn't a problem I've had with Demigod.

It should make you laugh...especially if you're not using XP anymore.  XP audio was notoriously finicky. Thats one reason I almost feel bad for Creative Labs...almost.  They're still the only good maker of accelerated audio cards.

I'm curious whether Demigod uses XAudio 2 or DirectSound, myself.
